Oink :)

This week has been quite fun.  I decided to add a new type of pet to the game - pigs. They are bigger than the other animals in the game, which posed a challenge in terms of adjusting their size to fit seamlessly into the game's ecosystem. Another thing I made this week was the addition of a cheat sheet with key bindings to the game.

Inventory is hard

I've been continuing to work on the gardening and food aspects of the game, and now I'm in the process of adding an inventory system. This has been a bit of a challenge, as creating an inventory in a game can be quite tricky. But I'm making progress. With the new inventory system in place, players can now harvest crops and store them in their inventory. They can then retrieve the food from the inventory and place it on the ground for their animals to eat.  Of course, there are still a lot of things to work out in the inventory system. I want it to be easy and intuitive for players to use, but it is not so simple to create.  As always, there are plenty of other features and aspects of the game that I'm working on as well. Adding new animals and objects, and improving the overall performance and stability of the game are all ongoing tasks. But with each passing week, I'm getting closer and closer to having a game that I'm truly proud of.

Gardening

This past week has been all about adding a new feature to my game: gardening! I realized that my animals need to eat, so I needed to figure out a way to provide food for them. After some brainstorming, I decided that adding a gardening component would be a great solution. It also fits in with the overall theme of taking care of animals. I don't want gardening to be a difficult or challenging task - I want it to be something that players can easily do as a small part of the game. So, I've created a simple system where players can plant seeds, wait some time, and then harvest the resulting crops. It's a basic setup, but it works well and I think it will add some nice variety to the gameplay. Of course, the main focus of the game is still taking care of the animals. I will continue to tweak their behavior and make sure that they're as engaging and fun to interact with as possible. There are still some challenges with balancing their needs and behaviors, but it's all pa...

What a beautiful world

It's been an exciting week! I've made some big changes to the appearance of the game, and I'm really happy with how it's turned out. First and foremost, I made everything look much smoother and less edgy.  I've been working on creating smooth transitions between different terrain types. Now, when you move from grass to road, for example, it doesn't just snap abruptly - there's a nice smooth transition. It's a small detail, but it really helps to make the game world feel more polished and immersive. Another big addition I've made is a new location - inside of a house. I've created new tiles and objects to fill the interior, and it's been a lot of fun to see it all come together. I've also rebuilt the game map to incorporate all the new changes, and I have to say, it looks a lot prettier now. As always, there are still some challenges to overcome. But overall, I'm really pleased with the progress I've made this week.
